Golden Gates Stakes racing tip: One last winning dismount for Royal Ascot legend Frankie Dettori?
By John FearnPublished on 24th June 2023

It’s the penultimate race of Royal Ascot, but it also signals the last scheduled appearance at the Festival for the legend that is Frankie Dettori, who is looking to bid farewell in winning style.
17:35 Golden Gates Stakes (Handicap) (1 mile 2 furlongs)
A race that is usually something of a comedown after all the high-profile renewals that have gone before takes on new significance as it marks the end of a long and illustrious love affair between the popular Italian and the Royal Ascot Festival.
Dettori is scheduled to race
Knockbrex here, although if he is successful in one of the bigger races earlier on, no one could blame him if he wanted to miss this one to ensure he goes out on a winning note.
That said, the consummate professional that he is, Dettori will no doubt fulfil his commitments, and if truth be told, he has a good chance of bowing out with a bang on board this Charlie Johnston-trained colt.

Following a winter pipe-opener on Newcastle's all-weather track, Knockbrex comfortably saw off the challenge of two subsequent winners on his turf debut in April.
That was in heavy going, but he promptly showed his versatility by registering a second and a fourth on his only other two outings.
He went off too boldly in the latter, and should perform better under Dettori's guidance as he drops back to his winning 10-furlong trip.
So will Dettori continue his Royal Ascot fairy tale right to the end, and give us a final signature dismount to test his resilient knees one last time?
We wouldn't bet against it - in fact, on the contrary, we're absolutely betting for it!
Suggested bet: Knockbrex in the 17:35 at Royal Ascot
